Collier 11 Bridges Replacement

Time: 2019 – 2024
Owner:
Collier County
Construction Cost:
$27,000,000

Summary of work performed:

This project consisted of bridge and roadway construction including 10 Concrete Florida Slab Beam Bridges with 18” square prestressed concrete pile foundations on Immokalee Rd., County Line Rd., and Oil Well Rd. in Collier County. The new bridges are wider and elevated. The Florida Slab Beam Developmental Standard is utilized for enhanced construction schedule and quality purposes. The bridges were completed in multiple phases with temporary signalization. The grade changes required temporary retaining wall systems and careful coordination for safety and maintenance of traffic. The existing structures were dynamically monitored for settlement and vibration through all phases of construction. This job included pile driving, bridge construction, earthwork, drainage, demolition of existing structures, concrete substructure, concrete superstructure, temporary signalization, asphalt paving, concrete sheet pile wall installation, and striping. Innovative aspects: FSBs, and the inspectors utilized the SmartPile Inspector device and app to complete pile logs.

HighSpans reviewed geotechnical reports to verify the deep foundation design prior to construction starting.  Driven piles were monitored throughout installation with a SAX-Q and PDA was performed on test piles.  Based on the PDA data HighSpans issued the authorized pile lengths and driving criteria. During production pile driving HighSpans aided in pile verification services.
